Book & Sideline Buyer

I started my book selling career in 2000 at a cozy bookstore in Portland, Oregon. Since then I've had the pleasure of slinging books into the hands of awaiting customers across the nation. In my ‘down' time I enjoy sewing, cooking, writing and spending time with my family.

My Favorites:

The Poky Little Puppy by Janet Sebring Lowery

The story of a rambunctious little puppy becoming a part of the pack.

Are You There God?, It’s Me Margaret, Judy Blume.

This was the first book that, as a young girl, I felt was speaking directly to me. Great for any middle school aged girl of any era!

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

I loved this book’s energy. it’s the story of a young man who doesn’t let life’s curveballs dissuade him.

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

This story is a classic in the YA world for a reason. Need I say more?

Feathers, Jacqueline Woodson.

This is a quiet, quick story of a young girl living with adversity.Woodson has a beautiful gift of channeling a child’s voice and sharing it with the world.

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers

This is the story of a group of misfits, living in the south in the 40s. McCullers wrote this book when she was only 23, and watched it take the world by storm.

The Life and Times of Michael K. by J.M. Coetzee

Is a story about a man trying to live simply in a world wrought by war.

The Last of Her Kind by Sigrid Nunez

Historical fiction dating all the way back to the 1960s! Nunez has a quiet consistent voice that I’ve grown to greatly respect.

Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson

This is the story of a 60 something Norwegian man who moves himself away from society, and back to the place, he comes to learn, that holds the key to the story of his coming of age.

Love Medicine, Louise Erdrich.

A disjointed but interconnected series of narratives moving back and forth the in time. Most taking place in North Dakota.

The God Of Small Things by Arundhati Roy

A work of great depth and imagery. I’ve never traveled to Indian, but after reading this book I feel that I have.

Lamb : The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore

This book kept me laughing throughout. It’s the story of Christ from age 9 thru crucifixion. Brilliantly imaginative.

Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emrey

A must have for any who strives towards sustainable living.

Milk by Darcey Steinke

A voyeuristic read.

Enrich Your Life. Discover the Secret. Follow the clues.
